The Willow Sessions Idea

I recently posted 2 more videos from the Willow Sessions.

One is the song Raise Up My Bones, which you can see featured here below.

The other song is the House of Evergrin, which is here.

Now looking at the House of Evergrin video I came to question – why is a jumbo jet taxiing on a runway in the middle of a song about a haunted house? – Cue laughter and ridicule.

I thought I’d put it out there anyway. But….

The projections on the sessions are often incongruent with the subject matter of the songs. So I had a whole rethink about what I’m doing…

Now, I’m going to make separate projection videos for each song which are connected with the themes in them. Even if it’s just the mood or setting.

So that means I’ll have to remake all the videos over again.

That said, I thought on it further and came up with the idea of making a feature length movie about the making of the sessions – the sessions themselves, plus all the thinking, planning, behind the scenes and setting up, and all the conflicts and challenges that come with the project. An unfolding story emerging in the process.

Also, there will be the opportunity to make a soundtrack album alongside the film.

But I want to make it the best film I can make. I’m not into doing something I’m not going to be proud of, so it must be a great film or no film at all.

So I must raise my game on all levels for this – the performances, the videos, the cinematography, lighting, the story development, and absolutely everything that goes into making a film, and this film in particular.

I will learn the nuts and bolts of crafting an arty film.

And my aim is to make a film on the making of a work of art (the Willow Sessions) and make the film itself a work of art.

It involves all my interests – music, production, writing, art, photography, film, learning new things – in one place.

So, that’s what I’m up to right now.

See you soon,

S
